NDLEA Discovers Deadly Meth Lab in Lagos Community

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) made a shocking discovery in a residential community in Ikeja, Lagos State. Acting on credible intelligence, NDLEA operatives raided a secret laboratory located at 4, Bode Oluwo Street, Mende, Maryland, Ikeja. The raid uncovered a production facility for the deadly illicit substance known as Methamphetamine. Within the duplex building, law enforcement officials found packaged sachets of the drug and various precursor chemicals used in its production.

Femi Babafemi, the NDLEA Director of Media and Advocacy, confirmed the operation, stating, “At the end of the search, one kilogram of already produced and packaged methamphetamine, quantities of precursor chemicals, and other items used for the production of the deadly drug were recovered from the house.” The agency is actively pursuing the owner of the house, who managed to escape.

In addition to the meth lab discovery, the NDLEA has been successful in apprehending individuals involved in drug-related activities. On June 5, the Lagos Command of the agency arrested two suspects, Wasiu Saliu and Afolabi Banjo, with a significant quantity of skunk weighing 247 kilograms in the Oyingbo area of Lagos. Tijani Damilola was also apprehended at Isheri with 12.5 litres of skuchies and 98kg of cannabis sativa. Furthermore, an additional 12.5kg of the same substance was seized from Adebowale Babatunde following his arrest in Mushin on June 8. The agency is actively pursuing the main suspect connected to the recovered drugs.

In another successful operation, NDLEA operatives intercepted a consignment of 3.20kg of skunk cleverly concealed within native black soap. The illicit drug was en route to the United Kingdom and was discovered at the NAHCO export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on June 7. The agency arrested a freight agent, Olowokudejo Tonyi, who was involved in the attempt to export the illegal substance.
